The Yummy Mummy Club: Ante and Post Natal Fitness
You mind, body and soul are going through changes that you will remember forever. A healthy pregnancy is in your hands.
Whilst pregnancy is certainly not the time to start training for a marathon, the old belief that pregnant women should put their feet up and adopt a sedentary lifestyle is long gone. It is now widely known that there are incredible health benefits of staying fit and healthy throughout pregnancy both for you and your baby.
Our licensed prenatal or antenatal personal trainers are experts in designing safe and effective pregnancy fitness programs that will help you to improve your mental and physical wellbeing. Our pregnancy exercise programs will boost your body confidence as you work on maintaining your strength, fitness, flexibility, stamina and energy. This ensures that you not only experience a shorter, easier and less complicated labour but that you regain your pre-pregnancy body shape quickly and easily after giving birth.
Your individually designed pregnancy fitness program will be carefully tailored to each trimester of your pregnancy with an emphasis placed upon maintaining core fitness, stretching, strengthening your stomach muscles and your pelvic floor in preparation for giving birth, and minimising the effects of pregnancy on your posture. The program will be adjusted as your pregnancy progresses and your qualified prenatal personal trainer will constantly monitor how you and your baby are doing.
With many years of practical experience working with pregnant mums, our licensed antenatal personal trainers have both the qualifications and knowledge to offer safe and sound advice, understanding exactly how to adapt exercises so that you and your baby do not come to any harm. By providing expert information and training they will keep you fit, safe and healthy throughout your pregnancy and beyond.
Before beginning any exercise programme during pregnancy your should consult with your GP, midwife or obstetrician about your individual circumstances, to ensure that they are happy with the type and intensity of exercises you will be performing.
Nine months of dramatic physical changes can leave your body feeling overweight, tired and out-of-shape. Most new mums can't wait to regain the figure they had before they were pregnant, or even improve on it. There is no doubt that personal training with our specialist post-natal personal trainers, is by far the quickest, safest and most effective method of burning fat and regaining your pre-pregnancy body shape. In fact, as soon as you have received the go-ahead from your midwife or doctor at your six-week postpartum check-up you are ready to begin our postnatal personal training program.
Our postnatal personal training specialists are experts at creating effective exercise programs that will correctly address your unique physical needs as a postnatal mum helping you to get strong, lean and energised whilst keeping you motivated and monitored every step of the way.
Specifically designed for postnatal women, our programs incorporate a blend of resistance, stability, cardio and postural exercises proven to help burn unwanted body fat, improve aerobic fitness, boost metabolism, strengthen the lower back and tone the muscles in the stomach, bum, chest, thighs and arms.
Understanding that every mum is different, our post-natal personal trainers create individually tailored postnatal home fitness programs that address your specific strengths, weaknesses and fitness level. Activities may include power walking, resistance training, rebounding, Pilates, boxercise, medicine ball and swiss ball work, low-impact circuits and full core conditioning.
Within just a few weeks of sessions with one of our personal trainers you will have more energy, greater stamina, less stress, greater flexibility, increased self-esteem and far greater body confidence. By combining specific techniques with correct eating habits, our postnatal personal trainers can help you to lose your baby weight, increase your energy and tone your body enabling you to better cope with the demands of motherhood.
All of our professional personal trainers hold nationally accredited postnatal fitness certifications and have many years of experience working with new mums. Most of our trainers also hold advanced academic degrees in health sciences, fitness and physical therapy. This means that our personal trainers are able to get you the real results you want whilst ensuring you adopt safe and proper technique at all times.

After attending group training with Izzy for a couple of years, I was delighted to learn that she is a qualified antenatal trainer, as I was looking for someone to teach me how to safely train whilst pregnant. She taught me loads of moderations to regular exercises, what I can do, and what I should avoid throughout my pregnancy. Plus she also recommended some great reading material on exercise and diet, and gave me a load of pregnancy workout videos to help me over the next few months. I was so relieved to be getting specific and qualified advice after receiving lots of mixed messages from seemingly helpful family, friends and medical staff. As a regular gym-goer for over 10 years, the last thing I wanted to do was give up regular exercise for 9 months.
Though I’ve had to moderate what I do, I am now 26 weeks pregnant and still training 3-4 times a week. I feel strong and healthy, and think it’s having a positive effect on my pregnancy.
